This is written by Stephen J.Zaloga and the book follows the usual formula concentrating on both the First and Second Battles of Aachen. It ends with the prelude to the Ardennes. It was a very frustrating and costly effort by the U.S. Ist and 9th Armies which was severly hampered by strong fortifcations and bad weather. Involved six months of fighting including the hellish battle for the Hurgen forest.
