Written by Steven J.Zaloga this Operation was launched 3 years to the day after Operation Barbarossa on 22nd June 1944 and resulted in the greatest German defeat of World War II costing more in men and material than the defeat at Stalingrad. Resulted in the Red Army destroying 17 Wehrmacht and 50 other divisions that once had made up the mighty Army Group Centre. Within five weeks the Red Army stood at the gates of Warsaw and the Third Reich faced utter defeat in the very near future. Focuses on the encirclement of Vitebsk , the breakthrough at Orsha , the liberation of Minsk and the drive West.
