Panzerkampfwagen V Panther and Pz.Kpfw VI Tiger are the most famous German tanks of WWII. Both deserved such popularity as each of them was classified as the best in its class. Postwar searches confirmed this opinion. When Germans attacked Soviet Union in 1941 they met T-34 and KW-1 tanks, which occurred far more better than German vehicles. Many front reports informed of big troubles with fighting against T-34 and KW-1. Then it was decided to rearmed PANZER III and PANZER IV. It was not enough. It was necessary to design and implement into production a new tank.
