During WWII German Army had two self-propelled guns armed with howitzer – Wespe and Hummel. Fortification of artillery with tracklaying vehicles armed with howitzers had good results on Eastern Front. Wespe (a wasp) was armed with light 105 mm howitzer, which was the basic equipment of each artillery regiment during the wartime. The gun had served from the WWI and in modified version was produced until the end of WWII.
